As expected, the buff has no impact on gem drop rate. So you will have about 0,8 gem per dungeon in hell 2 to four.

Legendary Total Drops and Stats

Here are the Legendary totals:

  • Unbuffed Legendaries: 6
  • Legendary with buff: 4

The buff is supposed to impact the legendaries, it is not obvious especially since there is more drop in non-buff than with buff! Legendary rates are also very rare in dungeons, you will have about 4 legendaries every 100 dungeons.

Total drops and set statistics

Here are the totals for the sets:

  • No buff: 14 including 3 H2 only
    • Feet: 5

  • Buff: 17 including 10 H2 only
    • Feet: 4

The difference between the two remains luck, statistically the dungeon buff does not bring more sets, on the other hand we have a lot more Hell 2 sets, ie gloves and amulets. It is therefore more useful to farm the dungeon of the week if you are looking for H2 and non-dungeons of the week in H1!

Caps of gems, sets and legendaries

In a day, there is a legend (or a bug!) that would prevent you from having legendaries if you have already collected some. Namely that ZanaTwo tested the limits of this bug or legend and was able to recover up to 15 legendaries by farming a day. Also, the developers have spoken on this point, here is what is cap:

  • Being in a 4-player party for open world zones and Dungeons: 12 unbound gems per day. (Note, this is a buff from the 10 bound gems during beta. We did this to make it easier for free to play players to obtain platinum via the market)
  • The first 4 yellow elites have ~4x better drops each day
  • The first orange Elite every day will drop a guaranteed Legendary item
  • The first 5 cursed chests can drop Enchanted Dust each day
  • In the Library of Zoltun Kulle each of the zone event dungeons is 4x a day for Enchanted Dust.
  • Side quests (such as blue exclamation mark outdoor) are the first 16x per day.
  • Hidden Lairs: The first 2 times each day you can get bound gems.
  • There is NO limit or diminishing returns on Legendary items. (The rumored “6 legendaries per day” is not a thing)
    These numbers should be more generous than what is currently being circulated. I am providing this information here for 2 reasons:
  • If there is any discrepancy between our design intent and live please let us know. This would be a bug and we can investigate.

And the translation:

  • max 12 gems in dungeon per day
  • better drop chances on the first 4 yellow bosses
  • the first orange gives a legendary NDL, be careful to inflict enough damage on him
  • the first five cursed chests can give dust
  • the Zoltan Kulle event area is limited to four dust drops
  • side quests are the first 16 marked with an exclamation mark
  • two hidden lairs per day giving gems
  • there is no legendary or set limit per day

Conclusion

  • 1 legendary every 25 dungeons
  • 1 set every 8 dungeons
